Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac is a breathtaking park in Wisconsin, with vast flower gardens spread throughout the area – and gazebos too! Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or just looking for a peaceful escape, take your entire family here because this park has something special to offer.
Visiting Lakeside Park: Winter vs. Fall Experience
First Visit in Late Winter 2017
We first went here in late winter of 2017. Since winter was coming to an end, all the trees were without leaves and there were no plants with flowers. But we came back here in September, the first day of the Fall, which was perfect because the beautiful flowers were blooming. The surroundings were vibrant!
A Blooming Paradise in September
Returning in September 2024 at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac was perfect because the flower gardens were bursting with colors, making the park a dream destination for flower lovers. The weather was just right, not too hot, not too cold, which was ideal for a stroll through the park.
Visiting Lakeside Park on the first day where charming and vibrant blooms at their peak created a picturesque scenery that is perfect for my photography. I would probably come back here in late spring or mid-summer.
New Additions and Park Features
Renovated Boat Dock and Lighthouse Enhancements
One of the first sights that caught our attention was the newly renovated boat dock. It looked different from our last visit, with updated features and a fresh look – it was beautiful! Another noticeable improvement was the lighthouse’s curb appeal, adding to the park’s charm.
The Iconic Lighthouse by the Lake
Lakeside Park’s lighthouse is one of its main attractions. Visitors can visit the top for a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding greenery in the spring and summer. However, since there were many visitors during our trip, we decided to skip it for now. The good news? The lighthouse is easily accessible by car, with a parking lot nearby and just a short walk to the entrance.
Relaxation and Activities at Lakeside Park
Serene Lakeside Views
Lakeside Park is situated along Lake Winnebago, offering breathtaking waterfront views. A few benches facing the lake provide the perfect spot for relaxation, whether you want to watch the water activities or simply enjoy the peaceful scenery. I wish we could have stayed here longer.

This park isn’t just about nature; it’s packed with activities for the whole family:

Future Plans: Another Visit for More Photography
There are still areas we haven’t fully explored, especially other garden beds throughout the park. I plan to return this summer to capture more photos and finally visit the top of the lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the lake. Stay tuned for an update!
